Cloud Expo Early Bird Savings
A robust ecosystem of solutions providers is emerging around cloud computing.
Here, SYS-CON's Cloud Computing Journal expands its list of most active
players in the fast-emerging Cloud Ecosystem, from the 'mere' 100 we
identified back in January of this year, to half as many again - testimony,
if any further were needed, to the fierce and continuing growth of the
"Elastic IT" paradigm throughout the world of enterprise computing.
Editorial note: The words in quotation marks used to describe the various
services and solutions in this round-up are in every case taken from the Web
sites cited. As ever we encourage software engineers, developers, IT
operations managers, and new/growing companies in every case to "suck it and
see" by downloading or otherwise sampling the offering in question for
themselves.

This year we have seen almost every company, every blogger and his duck,
feverishly posting their "annual predictions" before the December 31
deadline, as if there is such a deadline, and as if anyone cares about what
they think in most cases.
This is followed by a dozen or so 'paid' predictions news
releases every day by companies who are pushing their "wish lists from
2010" as "predictions" and hoping that they come true.
If you do a quick Google search on "2010 predictions" you will land on a
predictions potpourri of more than 5,000 stories (the last time... (more)

This means you can map a network drive to the Windows Azure Blob Storage and
start using it from Windows Explorer (See this link for detailed How-To
information).
As always, every time we add a new storage provider integration, we would
compare it to the existing ones, such as Amazon S3.
Since Gladinet Cloud Desktop can map both as virtual folders in a networ... (more)

The talk at the Cloud Computing Expo this week in Santa Clara was all about
enterprise cloud adoption. Is it real? Is it already happening? If so,
who’s doing it, which applications are they running and which clouds are
being tested?
To a large extent, cloud computing is a victim of its own somewhat
out-of-control hype cycle. Since so much has been written and discussed about
the cloud in 2009, there is now a growing impatience for actual results. The
fact that 2000 people showed up at the Cloud Expo in Santa Clara this week
(double the number fr... (more)
